The Swedes had to wait until October 2012 before Netflix opened up for streaming in Sweden. Like in the rest of Scandinavia Netflix arrived with a scaled down version of the US catalogue. Local Swedish content is available for streaming, but many of the big TV series and movies are missing from Swedish Netflix.

How to Watch the American Version of Netflix in Sweden
Due to licensing agreements you don’t have access to the full Netflix catalogue in Sweden, but I have a cool little trick that will give you access to everything while still using your Swedish Netflix account.
See your Swedish Netflix account is just as good as the American counterpart – in fact they are just the same. What determines the content you have access to is your location and not the account itself. Netflix will determine where you are located based on your IP address when you connect to the Netflix website. An IP address is a unique number that you inherit from your Internet Provider and it reveals to Netflix in what country you are located. All you need to do is faking your location and Netflix will allow you access to the full catalogue.

How to Fake Your Location When using Netflix in Sweden

So now that we know that Netflix will use your IP address to determine your location all you need to do is exchange your current IP address with an American IP address. You do this by connecting to what is known as a Virtual Private Network or VPN with a server located in the US. That way you can inherit an IP address from the VPN server, which will act as a middleman between you and Netflix and trick Netflix into thinking you are located in the US. Setting up a VPN connection is pretty easy. I prefer using the VPN service Netflix as they have great speeds perfect for streaming Netflix. Once you have created an account with them then download their app for either Mac or PC and install it. Then it is simply a matter of firing up the software and select a server located in the US and clicking connect. Sit back for a about 5 seconds and watch the connection status turn green and you now appear to be located in the US.
